Emily
Gubler Beck, born May 30, 1929, in East Ely, Nevada, Emily
passed away on August 3, 2011. She was the youngest child
of Raymond Jacob and Aggie Burgess Gubler and grew up in
the small town of Lund, Nevada.
After completing 10th grade, her parents let Emily stay
with relatives in Alpine, Utah, to seek more educational
opportunities. She graduated from American Fork High School
in 1947 and later attended LDS Business College. It was
during her senior year that she met a young man from Alpine
named Donald F. Beck. After dating 14 months they were happily
married in the Salt Lake Temple and were lovingly devoted
to each other for 63 years.
Emily worked as a typist, at a printing company and later
as City Recorder for Alpine City. She enjoyed serving in
various positions in the LDS Church. Donald and Emily started
the Alpine Tree Farm in 1967 and have enjoyed sharing this
Christmas tradition with so many families for the past 40
years.
Emily was the mother of three children, 10 grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren who always felt of her love for
them. She is survived by her husband, Donald, and their
three children ShaRee (David) Fotheringham, Laralee (David)
Lind and Randy (Teri) Beck.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2011 at
11:00 a.m. at the Alpine LDS Stake Center Chapel, 98 East
Canyon Crest Road, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may
call on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Stake
Center and also Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
prior to services. Internment, Alpine City Cemetery. Funeral
