Neilsen Ahlstrom

Husband,
father and grandfather, Marvell Neilsen Ahlstrom, 77, died
on June 20, 2011 in Provo, Utah.
Marvell was born September 30, 1933 in Torrance, CA to
Byron Pitt Ahlstrom and Gena Nielsen Ahlstrom. He was youngest
of five boys.
Marv graduated from Redondo Beach Union High School 1951
and attended El Camino College receiving his AA degree in
1953.
Marvell was called to serve an LDS Mission to the Mexican
Mission. He served faithfully from October 1953 to April
1956.
After his LDS mission Marv attended Brigham Young University
where he graduated in 1959 with a BS degree. He later earned
his MBA from Pepperdine College.
Marv Married Louise Cluff in the Los Angeles Temple and
they had eight children.
Upon his graduation from BYU Marv was drafted into the
US Army in 1959. He served active duty in Panama for two
years where his daughter Sandra was born. He finished his
service in Southern California in 1965.
In 1963, Marvell moved the family to Los Alamitos in Orange
County, California where he worked as an industrial engineer
for North American Rockwell on the first US space flight
to the moon. He later worked at McDonell Douglas aircraft.
In the early 70's Marv started MBA Tax Service where he
worked, supporting his family until he retired.
Marvell is beloved by all who knew him as a quiet, kind,
service-oriented man with a great sense of humor. Marv had
a special gift for noticing work that needed to be done
and would set about doing it without fanfare.
Marvell is survived by his wife, Louise, his children Sandra,
Paul, Karen, Marv, Jayson, Tamara and Alysia and by 31 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son David.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at
12:00 p.m. in the Alpine 9th LDS Ward Chapel located at
901 East Village Way, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may
call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Warenski Funeral
Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah (Just South
of Lone Peak High School) and also at an additional viewing
at the church on Friday morning one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Alpine City Cemetery.
