Vera Joanne Carlisle Beck

Joanne C. Beck, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, August 13, 2010. She was born August 30, 1931, in the pioneer family home in Alpine, UT to Alton Richard and Lila Beryl Bair Carlisle. She was the oldest of five children.

On April 10, 1950 Joanne married her eternal sweetheart, Leland Ross Beck, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two children, Deri B. Davies (Wayne) and Dana Ross (Annalisa).

Joanne attended the old Alpine Elementary school located on 200 North (now Kencraft Candy Factory) through 6th grade. Then she attended junior high and high school in American Fork, UT.

Joanne worked as a financial secretary for the Alpine School District for 27 years. Shortly after retiring, she and Ross served an LDS mission to Nauvoo, Illinois in September 1999 through February 2001. She often said her mission was a highlight in her life.

Family was most important to Joanne and she enjoyed sharing family history stories with her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her pioneer heritage and her deep Alpine roots.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Ross, her children, Deri and Dana, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two siblings, Dennis (Lyn) Carlisle and Lorraine (Jerry) Dyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Neil and Noel.

The family wishes to thank the River Meadows Senior Living Center and IHC Hospice for their loving care of our mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Mountainville Chapel (Red Brick Church), 165 North 100 East, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and at an additional viewing on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.
