Clyn
S. Bishop
-- 1938 ~ 2011 --
Clyn
Stapley Bishop, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
friend passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 surrounded by
his family.
He was born May 16, 1938 to Grant and Dail Bishop in Delta,
Utah. He graduated from Delta High School and later from
Utah State University with a degree in Forestry. After graduation,
Clyn began work with the Utah State Forestry program and
was instrumental in relocating the state nursery to its
current location at the Point of the Mountain. Wanting to
spend more time with his family, he started his own business
and spent many rewarding years working side by side with
children.
Clyn married Carlene Gardner and together they had two
children. Clyn later married Leslie Sevy on June 7, 1969
in the St. George Temple and welcomed six children. They
just celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.
He loved his family and had many dear friends. During the
last month and a half he spent time with his children and
grandchildren and was able to attend two family reunions
sharing memories with those friends and family he loved
so much. We will fondly remember sitting around the kitchen
table playing games and swapping stories for hours.
Clyn was known for his love of service and constant willingness
to help anyone in need. Whether it was a sprinkler or yard
project or helping his children in their homes, he could
be counted on to gladly help.
He had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ and
the gospel. This testimony gave Clyn and Leslie the desire
to serve in 2008 and they were called to the Georgia, Atlanta
North mission. After returning for a short period, they
again felt the desire to serve and were called to the Raleigh,
North Carolina mission from which they recently returned.
Clyn loved every minute of being a missionary and having
his wife as his constant companion.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie, and eight children:
Russ (Susan) of Heber, Utah; Marcia Bishop; Gary (Aironn)
of Meadow, Utah; Kevin (Amy) of American Fork, Utah; Shane
(Angie) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Scott (Kristy) of Enoch, Utah;
Lance (Celeste) of Clearfield, Utah; Laura Bishop of American
Fork, Utah; and 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by
his siblings Floy (Tom) Wagstaff of Ogden, Utah; Ken (Venice)
of Delta, Utah; Nada (Riley) Turpin of West Jordan, Utah;
Ross (BettyRae) of Ogden, Utah; and Drexel (Ken) Meacham
of Mesquite, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved sister,
Janice.
