 Irene
passed away peacefully in her granddaughter’s home
in Lehi, UT, on Dec. 26, 2011. She was born on Oct. 24,
1915, in Jalong, Person Co., NC, to Leamon Foy Harris and
Rosa Anna Wheeley.
Irene married Maxie Abraham Dixon on Jan. 13, 1934, and
they were later sealed in the AZ temple on June 10, 1949.
They were married for 62 years before his death.
Irene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints and held many responsible positions
in all the organizations. She even served as a branch clerk.
She loved sewing for her home and family, reading the scriptures
and other books, feeding the missionaries, and whatever
else she could do to build the Kingdom.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a steadfast
friend. She will be missed.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
4 brothers, 2 sisters and one grandson. She is survived
by her daughter, Shirley Joyce Dixon Hall of Lehi, UT, and
her son, Maxie Sherwood Dixon and his wife, Jean, of Raleigh,
NC., 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Irene will be held Saturday, December
31, 2011. Interment will be in the Person Cemetery, Roxboro,
North Carolina. Services under the direction of Warenski
Funeral Home of American Fork, Utah.
