Joyce Allred Olson Dowden
February 29, 1932 ~ September 20, 2010

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loving sister, Joyce age 78 passed away peacefully on September 20, 2010.

Joyce was born on leap year February 29,1932 in Salt Lake City to Clarence J. Allred and Myrtle Thelma Carter. She married Ivan A. Olson August 21, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple and they had 5 wonderful sons. They have been her joy and strength throughout her life. She was a proud grandma of 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and loved each one. Later married Kenneth B. Dowden November 24, 1990 in the Jordan River Temple.

Joyce was known for her contagious laugh and infectious smile. She always had a listening ear and unconditional love for her family and friends. She valiantly served in Relief Society and Primary and in the Jordan River Temple. She had a strong testimony and loved her Savior.

Over the years she worked in many hospitals and made many lifetime friends. A mother like ours is more than a memory, she will live in our hearts forever.

She is survived by sons Kim (Bobette), Scott (Kathleen), Roger (Allison), Steven (Melanie) and Todd (Julene) also a sister Carolyn (Richard) Smith. Preceded in death by husband Kenneth B. Dowden sister Colleen (Neil) Holbrook and granddaughter Mary Elizabeth.

Funeral services for Joyce will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Salt Lake 20th LDS Ward Chapel, 2nd Avenue & 'G' Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 am prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
