Phyllis
B Rond Glenn
" Together Again"
Phyllis
B Glenn, age 80, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, aunt and friend passed away quietly at her home
in American Fork on May 18. 2011. She was born in Ogden
April 5, 1931 to parents Albertus "Bert" Rond,
Jr., and Myrtle Alzina Burton.
She grew up in Ogden and attended schools there. She met
and married Rulon Cole, later divorced. On July 24, 1951
she married Eldon Glenn in Evanston, Wyoming. They were
sealed in the Logan LDS Temple April 6, 1964. He preceded
her in death on July 21, 2009. Together they raised 4 sons
and a daughter.
Phyllis was an exceptionally talented woman, although she
never thought of herself as that. She was an outstanding
cook and seamstress. No one could make cinnamon rolls or
a loaf of bread like her, and many of her children and grandchildren
are blessed to have one or more of her quilts. She had the
ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home and it
was never a bother for her to quickly put together a meal
for unexpected guests.
Eldon moved in his employment to Fort Duchesne, Caldwell,
Idaho Falls, Shelley, and Spokane and finally back to Utah
where they retired and put down roots. Eldon would grow
the garden and Phyllis would bottle the produce. Together
they made a home for their family.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings. She
especially loved working in the Primary, where she spent
many years teaching the young people of the Church. She
loved to travel and together her and Eldon went to New Zealand
and to Europe. They always talked of dancing at the "Moulin
Rouge" in Paris.
In her later years, she was stricken with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
This frustrated her because she was unable to continue doing
the things she enjoyed throughout her life. Eldon became
her devoted caregiver for the rest of his life. The past
few years, she has been cared for by her daughter, Nanette
Nielsen.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Randy (Helene), Mike,
Eric (Karen), and Nanette; and a sister Berta Kim of Sandy,
Oregon. She has 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years; a son
Rickey; grandsons, Darin Glenn and David Glenn; and a sister
and three brothers.
Funeral services Phyllis will be held on Saturday, May
21, 2011 at 10:00 am in the American Fork 11th LDS Chapel
located at 2433 West 450 South Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family
and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00-10:00
am prior to services at the church. Interment will follow
services at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park located
at 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah.
