Robert
L Griffiths, 86 of American Fork, Utah, died in his home
on January 5, 2012, surrounded by members of his family.
He was born October 25, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to
David Lester and Linda Griffiths, the third of four children.
Robert graduated from Glendale (CA) High School, class
of 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943-46
as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was a successful
salesman, retail store designer, and businessman and enjoyed
many ventures during his life. He was a member of VFW Post
49 in American Fork, Utah.
He married the love of his life LaDeane Wood on September
23, 1972. They were later sealed in the Oakland CA Temple
in October 1974. They called several places home during
their marriage, including Grant’s Pass (OR), Salt
Lake City (UT), Vista (CA), Fresno (CA), Visalia (CA), Ridgecrest
(CA), and Eagle Mountain (UT). Bob was a devoted member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and
served in many callings including Bishop, High Councilor,
and Young Men’s President.
He is survived by his wife LaDeane, his sister Gloria (Alan)
Waddell of Gilbert, AZ, his 12 children Tori Lynn Pratt
of Eugene, OR, Terri Lee (Steve) Harper of Corvallis, OR,
Jack Griffiths of Edmonds, WA, Keith (Cindy) Griffiths of
Vista, CA, Karen Beesley of American Fork, UT, Teresa (Jeff)
Pyne of Cedar Hills, UT, Kimberley (Mike) Wilberg of Basalt,
ID, Laura (Keith) Duckett of Sahuarita, AZ, Jacob (Marianne)
Griffiths of Vista, CA, Rachel (Jason) Palmer of Highland,
UT, Meagan (Mike) Kennedy of Cedar Hills, UT, and Melinda
(Jeff) Dalebout of Provo, UT, his 47 grandchildren, and
his 34 great grandchildren (with five more on the way).
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother
David Jack Griffiths, and his sister Wanda Orel Griffiths.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 13, 2012
at 11 a.m. at the Manilla 7th ward chapel, 1320 W 3540 N,
Pleasant Grove, UT. Friends and Family may call Thursday
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776
N 900 E in American Fork, or Friday at the church one hour
prior to the services. Burial will be in the South Jordan
City Cemetery.
