Frank
Edward Hayward
-- 1937 ~ 2011 --
On
March 26, 2011, Frank Edward Hayward passed away peacefully
in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bette
Janet Melson, seven children (Esther, Ed, Kathy, Jeanna,
Jerry, Roy and Charles), 37 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Frank was born on Jan 29, 1937 to Robert
and Ida May Turner Hayward. He grew up on a dairy farm in
southern Illinois along with his two brothers, Robert and
James. Frank learned to work hard at an early age and kept
that quality all his life.
As a boy Frank was known for his ability
to understand and repair mechanical things and this later
turned into a successful career as a mechanical engineer,
eventually working his way up from design to management.
He retired from International Harvester Case in 2005.
Frank and Janet met in high school and
married after his first year in college. A few years after
graduation, Frank and Janet were contacted by missionaries
and were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints in 1962. This was a pivotal event in Frank’s
life. Over the years, Frank served in many callings, including
scout master, branch president, and bishop.
As a family man, Frank was a kind and
loving husband and father. Not only was he able to fix and
build anything around the house; he was also an example
of honesty in all his business and private dealings, his
service to everyone, and his patience in life’s trials.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday,
March 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Fork 10th LDS
Ward Chapel located at 507 North 600 West, American Fork,
