Kay
Stringham
1928 ~ 2012
Kay
Stringham, age 83, passed away peacefully, at his home,
on Wednesday evening, January 4, 2012. Kay was born August
26, 1928 in Bone, Idaho to Platte Lyman Stringham and Ruby
Jones. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Rose,
Idaho. He married his high school sweetheart, Margene Going
on October 21, 1949 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together
they raised 2 sons and 4 daughters.
In 1958, Kay moved his young family to San Bernardino,
California. They subsequently lived in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii,
Chehalis, Washington and back to Southern California before
retiring to Cedar Hills, Utah in 1997.
Kay held many positions in the LDS church. His most treasured
callings were serving at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building
and working in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. He was saddened
when his health no longer permitted him to go to the temple.
He grew the most beautiful garden and shared his abundance
with so many. It was a privilege to be asked to work in
the garden with him. We all learned the hard way that all
rows had to be perfectly straight.
Kay is survived by his wife Margene and his six children:
Denise Nelson (Gary) Holladay, UT; Randy (Susan) Calimesa,
CA; Nancy Yost, Houston, TX; Betty Jo Bailey (Dean) Alpine,
UT; Janette Weaver (Josh) Logan, UT and Richard, Yucaipa,
CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings
and a granddaughter. The family wishes to thank his loving
neighbors and the members of the Manila 5th Ward for their
selfless service. A special thanks also for the kind service
of his hospice care givers, especially Janet, MarKae, Lorna
and Zack.
A viewing will be held Sunday, January 8th from 6:00 -
8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East,
American Fork. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January
9th at 11:00 am at the Manila 5th Ward Chapel located at
3396 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends may visit the
