Jean
Bills Ward, age 81, died peacefully at home on October 30,
2010 with her sweetheart by her side.
She was born December 2, 1928 to Kenneth
W. and Norma Nelson Bills in Riverton, Utah. She graduated
from Monrovia High School, California in1947. She married
Allen “Vern” Ward September 14, 1949. She was
an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, and served faithfully in many callings. Her
favorite calling was as a Temple worker with her husband,
Vern, at the Provo LDS Temple for 10 years, and 3 years
at the Jordan River LDS Temple. She loved serving, and missed
it greatly when she and her husband retired.
Jean had a great sense of humor and was
happiest when making those around her laugh. She loved to
send out jokes to family and friends. She had many talents
that she used throughout her life. She was an expert seamstress,
artist, decorator, cook, and writer. It was well known that
whatever she chose to do, she did with great determination
and ambition. Her true passion in life was studying the
Old Testament. She loved the Hebrew language and would teach
her grandchildren how to write their name in the ancient
script. She was an avid reader and had a hunger to learn.
She went to the Institute of Religion at UVU to further
her education. She graduated June 6, 1988. She completed
2 more years of religious courses at BYU.
Mom had a strong desire to share her love
and knowledge of the scriptures with her family and wrote
two books just for her children, which will be treasured
always.
She is survived by her beloved husband,
Vern, and their children. Robert Ward (Gayla), daughter-in-law,
Pat, Jeff Ward, (Angie), Cheryl Jones (Kevin), Linda Nelson
(Gavin), David Ward (Betty), Doug Ward (Debbie), 28 grandchildren,
16 great grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her
parents Norma Nelson Bills, and Kenneth W. Bills, brothers,
Ken and John Harvey Bills, son, Tom Ward, and granddaughter,
Alexis Nelson.
Graveside services will be on Tuesday,
November 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Hills
Cemetery, 4525 North East Lawn Drive (650 E.) Provo, Utah.
