Doris Ann Hudson Trujillo
1952~2025
In loving memory of
Doris Ann Hudson de Trujillo
Doris Hudson Trujillo, age 72, passed peacefully in her home with her children, granddaughter and husband by her side on the early morning of March 29.
Born on September 19,1952 in New Haven, Connecticut to her parents Richard and Dolores Hudson, Doris was fortunate to have two sisters, Rose Costanzo, Renee Deleone and a brother, Richard Hudson.
Doris met her husband of 50 years, Herminio Trujillo during an Artists in Schools residency in Socorro, New Mexico. Within two years they married and started a family in Lehi, UT. They raised 5 children, Arianna, David, Christophe, Alicia and Aaron. Doris is the grandmother of 6 wonderful grandchildren, Alexis, Chloe, Liam, Luca, Gabriela and Maxine. She found deep joy in being with her family and grandchildren.
In 2000 Doris and her family moved to Alpine, UT. She loved being close to the mountains and enjoyed hiking in the hills above her home with friends and family.
Doris was driven both academically and professionally, she was an incredible teacher and never stopped pushing herself and her students to grow. Doris completed her education goal with a Master of Arts degree from Brigham Young University. She cofounded a professional dance company “Contemporary Dance Works”, held adjunct positions at Weber State, U of U, BYU and UVU. She choreographed dances that were performed in Texas, New Mexico, California, New York City, Madrid and Cordoba Spain. She presented scholarly papers in New Mexico, California, Hawaii, Scotland, and Czechoslovakia. Doris was a member of the Utah Department of Education Arts Council that wrote curriculum to be used in school programs. She became a professor of dance, one of her lifetime goals, at Utah Valley University. She retired as department chair in 2020.
Doris lived a vibrant and active life full of incredible experiences. She was an inspiration to those she came in contact with. She was present in every moment, she was a safe place for her children and grandchildren, and we are so proud to call her our mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She is missed dearly but we take comfort in knowing she is dancing, laughing and singing again!
A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday April 7th, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the LDS chapel, 901 Village Way, Alpine, Utah. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing Sunday April 6th from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Warenski Funeral Home at 1776 North 900 East American Fork, Utah 84003.
