Elaine Bohne Obituary

Elaine Joan Pappas Bohne

1933 ~ 2026

Elaine Pappas Bohne, 92, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and quiet kindness that touched all who knew her.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Manteca, Elaine graduated as valedictorian of Manteca High School. She continued her education at Modesto Junior College and San Jose State, earning a degree in Physical Education and Dance. She later earned two master’s degrees from Brigham Young University, graduating with distinction.

Elaine devoted 25 years to teaching, inspiring students at Pleasant Hill High School and Northgate High School before retiring in 1990. In 1958, she married Bud Bohne in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they raised three children in Walnut Creek and spent cherished summers at Lake Tahoe. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first.

For decades, Elaine faithfully sent each grandchild and great-grandchild a handwritten birthday card and some money, never missing a year. It became a lasting tradition and a simple but powerful expression of her love.

She found joy in gardening, reading, arranging flowers, and cheering on her favorite teams. At age 89, she famously won her family’s NCAA March Madness bracket.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elaine served as a Relief Society and Seminary teacher, a Family History Consultant and helping others in the Addiction Recovery Program where  her kindness uplifted many.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents John and Eugenia Pappas, husband Bud Bohne, brother John Pappas, daughter-in-law Lisa Bohne, and  son-in-law David Yost. She is survived by her brother Jim Pappas (Marilyn), children Richard (Marianne), Kristy (Louis), and Karen (Faraz), nine grandchildren  and 13 great-grandchildren.
