Harvey Pace Obituary

H. Dan Pace
1939 – 2025

Our loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, son, brother and friend, Dan Pace, 85, of American Fork, Utah, passed away May 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Dan was born June 19, 1939, in Provo, Utah to Harvey Alexander and Myrtle Nina Thorsen Pace . He went to school in Provo and Orem, graduating from Orem High School in 1957. He joined the Navy in June that same year. He was stationed in San Diego, where he eventually served aboard the USS Midway.

He met his wonderful wife, Kay Marie Terry, after she moved to Orem where they became fast friends and married on March 24, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. Following the Navy, Dan got a job at Sperry in Salt Lake City, where is was employed for 42+ years. As the company changed over the years eventually becoming L3 Communications, a significant amount of Dan’s job was working on the Predator project, an unmanned drone. Dan dedicated many years to schooling, eventually receiving his PHD. He had so many trades over the years - electrician, barber, mechanic, ham radio operator and poet, which he loved the best. He would help whomever needed his help wherever he could. Dan was an avid fan of BYU, Steph Curry and In N Out and was always ready to watch a game or go out for burgers with his family.

Dan and Kay spent a few years in Clearwater, Florida, where they had so many great memories. Upon moving back to Utah, they settled in American Fork and met many wonderful life long friends who kept them busy at Lake Powell and family cabins with endless card games.

After Dan retired, he and Kay moved to Quartzsite, Arizona, for the winter months and once again enjoyed so many memories of their time in the desert.

Dan and Kay served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Public Affairs Mission at the Church Office Building and a Branch Family History Mission.  Dan also spent 5 years as the Branch President in the Quartzsite Branch, including a couple of years in the heat of summer. His last service was HOA President of Crystal Cove.

Dan is survived by his children Teri Sue (Bryan) Johnson, Mike (Lori) Pace, David (Meg) Pace; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. His siblings Loraine Andreason, Peggy (Bill) Parsons, Kathy (Paul) Crandall and Jim (Susan) Pace.

He is preceded in death by his wife Kay; his parents Harvey and Nina Pace; grandson Derek Hilliker; brother-in-law Val Andreason and sister-in-law Judy Pace.
