Jeanne Hausknecht Engberson
1937 ~ 2025
Jeanne Hausknecht Engberson passed away peacefully at her home in Alpine surrounded by family on Sunday May 25, 2025 from natural causes.
Jeanne was the youngest of three children born to Howard and Ruby Hausknecht, brothers Howard and Steve.
Jeanne grew up in Copperton, Utah, attending Bingham high School where her father taught as a shop teacher. She was popular at school and active in dance and student government. She later went on to BYU to earn a bachelor’s degree in education and taught 2nd & 3rd grade at Greenwood Elementary in American Fork, Utah.
Jeanne married Charles Albert Engberson on September 24th 1959 sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have five children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jeanne’s beloved only daughter, the eldest child, was taken far too soon, tragically and unexpectedly when she passed away from an aneurysm at just 51 years old. This broke Jeanne’s heart and she mourned her loss throughout her life.
Jeanne was a busy, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, giving service in many capacities, especially in music by playing the organ and piano for many church functions. Jeanne and Charles served many years in the Timpanogos temple before and after serving a full time LDS mission in Romania and Boston, Massachusetts.
Jeanne loved playing the piano for everyone, everywhere and for everything. She played for school programs, dance recitals, funerals, weddings, etc. and filling her home with beautiful music and love. She taught piano for years to many children in Alpine, usually riding her bike to their house to give the lesson.
Jeanne spent much of her time taking care of a large yard and garden. She had a natural talent with plants, learning from her mother, Ruby, the “Chrysanthemum Queen”. Jeanne could pull off a branch and plant it in the ground and it would grow into a beautiful tree.
Forever in our hearts, our beloved Mom and Grandma will be greatly missed. Though you are gone you will be remembered with love, always and forever.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Charles, daughter Janine and brothers Howard and Steve. She is survived by her four sons Mark and Diane (Kara, Eric, Rosalyn), Douglas and former wife Linda (Devin, Heather) and Douglas and Bechy (Daniel, Mariana), Paul (Morgan, Elliot), Michael and Lisa (Kelsey, Aaryn, Taylor), and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00 am in the Alpine 8th Ward Chapel, located at 890 North Heritage Hills Drive, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and also at an additional viewing on Friday morning from 9:00-9:45 am prior to services at the church.
