Lynn Hendrickson Obituary

Lynn J Hendrickson

Nov 4, 1937 - June 10, 2025

Lehi, UT - Lynn J Hendrickson, 87, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025.  Lynn was born on November 4, 1937 in Gunnison, Utah to Rendell and Veone Hendrickson.

Lynn was the second of four boys and grew up in Gunnison, Utah. During his childhood he worked on his parents’ farm and learned to drive a tractor at a young age.  In High School he played basketball, baseball, as well as the saxophone in the band. He also led his high school band as drum major.  He graduated from High School in 1956. “Tough as nails, hard as bricks, Gunnison class of ‘56”.

After high school Lynn attended Brigham Young University where he received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.  He also rekindled a high school relationship with Gilberta Fjeldsted in a Business Finance class and they began dating again.  They were married on August 19, 1959.

In 1961 Lynn and Gilberta moved to Upland, California where their first two daughters, Lisa and Lora, were born.  Lynn worked for General Dynamics. After four years Lynn was hired by Litton Corporation and they moved to Phoenix, AZ and they built their first home there. A few years later Lynn transferred with his company to the Salt Lake office and they moved their young family to Bountiful, Utah. Here their family grew by adding Kristi and Cory.  They spent nearly 40 years in Bountiful raising kids where Lynn worked at Sperry/Unisys in industrial & facility engineering. Lynn enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and boating with his family and friends.  He loved watching sports, especially basketball, and he was an avid BYU sports fan.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a dedicated and faithful servant in both church callings and temple work.  Lynn and Gilberta were excited to serve a church mission in Warsaw, Poland in 2005. After their mission they moved to Lehi, Utah.  They were always involved and supportive of their children and grandchildren and loved to gather with family.  They tried to attend their grandchildren’s events, even those who lived out of state.

As we face this life without him, we do so knowing he is in a better place with many who love him.  Our family is so thankful for his hard work, dedication, love and example.

Lynn is survived and missed by his loving wife Gilberta Fjeldsted Hendrickson, and his children, Lisa Sperle (Andy), Lora Whitaker (Shawn), Kristi Chase (Ben) and son Cory Hendrickson (Gina). Forever cherished and remembered by his 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Rendell Hendrickson and Lois Veone Hendrickson.

We would like to thank all the many people that have shared their love and service over the years to Lynn and Gilberta.  We are very grateful for their Lehi neighbors, ward members, the staff at Aspen Health Care, and the Aspen Ridge Hospice nurses.
