Mark Adam Mellor, age 42, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 11, 2026.

Mark was born on February 10, 1984, in West Valley City, Utah, to Hale and Darla Mellor. He was the youngest of ten children, growing up with five brothers and four sisters in a home filled with love, laughter, and lifelong friendships. He attended Bingham High School and later studied at Dixie College and Snow College before returning to the Salt Lake Valley.

Mark later met the love of his life, Megan Hall, and they were married on June 20, 2012. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

From a young age, Mark had an adventurous spirit. He loved exploring the outdoors, hiking mountain trails, camping beneath the stars, and simply being surrounded by nature. Whether taking a quiet walk or setting out on a new adventure, he found peace and happiness in the beauty of the outdoors.

He was also an incredible animal lover. Animals seemed to trust him instinctively, and he had an uncanny ability to make friends with every creature he met. His affection for wildlife often resulted in an abundance of deer visiting the yard—much to the frustration of the flowers and garden. To Mark, every animal deserved kindness, and he treated each one with the same gentle compassion that he showed to people.

One of Mark’s greatest joys was spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was affectionately known as the family’s “Candy Man,” never arriving empty-handed. Whether it was their favorite candy, a thoughtful gift, or a small surprise he knew would bring a smile, Mark delighted in making others feel special.

Mark will be remembered for his gentle heart, generous spirit, quick wit, and unwavering kindness. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sharing a favorite treat, finding the perfect gift, hiking a beautiful trail, reading a good book, or making a child laugh. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. His quiet compassion and genuine generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Hale and Darla Mellor; his brothers-in-law, Mike Johnson and Dan Halterman; and his father-in-law, Gordon Hall.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Megan Hall Mellor; his siblings, Andrew (Susie) Mellor, Ester Halterman, Stuart (Terilynn) Mellor, Jared Mellor, Joanna Johnson, Deborah (Gary) Sanders, James (Crystalynn) Mellor, Elizabeth (Brad) Kelley, and Samuel (Jessica) Mellor; along with many cherished nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Megan’s family, who loved him as one of their own.

Mark’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends. Although he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, generosity, and quiet love will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. Those who knew him will forever remember his warm smile, thoughtful heart, and the joy he brought simply by being himself.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 910 South High Bench Road, Alpine, Utah. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately before the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
