Randall Hamilton Obituary

Randall LaMar Hamilton

1950 ~ 2025

Randall (Randy) LaMar Hamilton, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 23, 2025, after a courageous battle for his health.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Belva and Otis, and his younger brother, Mark. He is survived by his wife Kelly, his children Brianne and Alex, his sisters LaDawn Hamilton Godwin (Craig), and Marilyn Hamilton Berryessa (Scott), and a wide circle of family and friends who loved him dearly.

Randy was born on March 23, 1950, in Provo, Utah, and raised in Edgemont, the second of four children to Belva Williamson and Otis LaMar Hamilton. From a young age, Randy was known for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and genuine kindness toward everyone he met.

After graduating from Orem High School, Randy was called to serve in the Ohio–West Virginia Mission. He was one of the few chosen from his ward to go on a mission due to the Vietnam War. He often told stories of his time there—everything from adopting a pet raccoon to his experiences in the hollows of West Virginia. Following his mission, he attended BYU, where he became a member of the Samuel Hall Society and formed lifelong friendships. He shared a special bond with his sister Marilyn, who was his close companion during their growing-up years.

Randy’s love of adventure shaped his life. One summer he built homes in Sun Valley, he then worked 3 different summers as a whitewater river guide.  One of those summers, he was in Idaho on the Middle Fork, the Main Salmon, and the Selway—an experience that eventually led him to dating and later marrying the love of his life, Kelly. Together they settled in Alpine, Utah, where they raised their two children, Brianne and Alex, and had a home filled with laughter, love, and adventure. In a house that he built and where they have been ever since.

Randy began his career at Wolfe’s Sporting Goods which furthered his love of snow skiing, waterskiing, and scuba diving, before being recruited into clinical diagnostic sales, where he spent the majority of his professional life. Outside of work, he was known as the neighborhood fix-it guy and was a skilled carpenter—whether building his own home, crafting model airplanes, or tackling any project that needed doing.

Randy loved the outdoors and sought adventure at every turn. He was an avid road and mountain biker, even completing the grueling Leadville 100, 300 Warriors, Saints to Sinners and other long-distance rides such as the White Rim Trail, the Ulcer, and the Salt Lake Century. He could often be found recruiting friends to join him on any ride.

Family trips to Lake Powell, begun in his youth with his siblings, remained some of his most cherished memories, and sharing experiences with many lifelong friends and family brought joy to his life.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Randy found joy in serving others, including some years in BYU singles’ wards. His faith was central to his life, as was his desire to help and uplift those around him.

He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his kindness, his faith, and his gift for storytelling. We miss him deeply, but take comfort in knowing he is joyfully reunited with his parents, brother, and loved ones who passed before him.
