Richard Ralph Halls
1950 ~ 2025
Richard R. Halls (Rick), age 74, of Cedar Hills, Utah, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 3, 2025. He was born on November 22, 1950, in Durango, Colorado, to Gene and Inez (Bowling) Halls, the third of eight children.
He grew up in Durango, Colorado, where he learned the value of hard work. Upon graduating from Durango High School, Rick was called to serve in the Alaska-Canada Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later attended Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life, Valerie. They were married on January 16, 1976, in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.
Rick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A man of quiet strength and integrity, he built a career in construction and owned his own business. He also graduated from BYU with Bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and Philosophy, and was always striving to learn and grow.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rick remained active in various callings throughout his life. His faith was central to everything he did, and he quietly blessed the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie, of Cedar Hills, Utah; his children, Michelle (Robert) Conder of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Melissa (Jesse) Wood of Cedar Hills, Utah; Robert (Julia) Halls of Cedar Hills, Utah; Kathryn (Paul) Forbes of Grantsville, Utah; and Daniel Halls of South Jordan, Utah. He is also cherished by his grandchildren—Lauren, Benjamin, Rachel, Hayden, Charlotte, Evelyn, Abby, Tyler, Blake, Janie, Brooke, Harley, and Brody—as well as numerous extended family members.
Funeral Services for Richard will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Cedar Hills 3rd Ward Chapel, located at 4355 West Cedar Hills Drive Cedar Hills, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to service at the church. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10:00 am in the Cedar Grove Cemetery located at 8432 Road 41 Mancos, Colorado 81328.
Rick will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to family, deep faith, and quiet acts of service.
