Sharrel Fowler Miller
1942 - 2025
Sharrel Fowler Miller passed away peacefully on June 15. 2025, in her home in American Fork, Utah. Born on January 8, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Donald P. Fowler and Elizabeth L. Fowler, Sharrel was the oldest daughter in a family of seven girls, and she dearly loved all her sisters. Sharrel was known as the “fun loving” sister because she always loved to host parties so that she could gather and laugh together.
Sharrel grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming before moving to Harrisville, Utah and attended college at Weber State University. Here she met and married Gerald (Jerry) H. Miller. The happy couple were sealed together in the Salt Lake City temple on February 7, 1964. Sharrel loved children and was an incredible mother to Brian, Michael and Misti. She loved spending time with each of them and was always their biggest advocate and cheerleader. She worked tirelessly to make every holiday and birthday a special event. She loved decorating the house and took great care to pick out the perfect gifts to ensure her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren felt her love for them.
Sharrel loved people and enjoyed her job as a sales associate at J.C. Penney, where she was employed for 25+ years. She enjoyed being dressed in her best clothes, having her hair and nails done, and socializing. She took pride in her work and her appearance and was beloved by all who knew her.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sharrel had a very Christlike heart and a strong testimony of the Savior. She served as a Relief Society instructor, and loved her calling as a visiting teacher. Sharrel enjoyed cheering others with special deliveries during holidays and birthdays. She faithfully supported her husband Jerry in his various church callings. They fulfilled a service mission for the Bishop’s Storehouse. Through all her years, her favorite calling involved perfect people—children. She taught in the Savior’s way by loving and caring for every child. She was a living example of the Gospel by always praying whether on her knees or in her heart. She prayed for children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors and others in need.
She embodied her favorite scripture by letting her light shine (Mathew 5:16). Her family always knew they had a friend in her, because she looked on the bright side of life and was quick with a compliment, kind word or great advice. She made time to listen and always made you feel important. As her health declined, her loyal husband, Jerry, lovingly and faithfully cared for Sharrel.
Sharrel is survived by her loving husband Jerry Miller; her children, Brian Miller (Karin), Michael Miller (Jennifer), and Misti Shelton (Keith); 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Darla Johnson (Wally), Kim Johnson (Layne), and Robin Connell (Sam). She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Elizabeth Fowler, as well as three of her sisters Karen Fowler, Barbara Bruderer, and Pam Balfour.
The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation for loving friends, family and neighbors who have lovingly supported and cared for our family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 270 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah, with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45 AM
