SuEllen Nordfelt Denison

1955 ~ 2026

SuEllen Nordfelt Denison was finally reunited with her eternal love, Richard, on the 2nd of August. She passed away at her home in Highland, Utah after an ongoing battle with her health. 

SuEllen was born in Moab, Utah on September 7, 1955 to Ellen Frances Tolboe and Charles Larsen Nordfelt, Jr. Su was the beloved baby of the family. Moab was a magical place for Su and she felt a special bond to the Red Rocks. Su was an outgoing and social teen and often spoke of her days at her parents’ Dairy Freeze. 

Su met Richard Amel Denison at CEU in Price Utah and they were married on July 18, 1975 in the Provo Utah Temple. Su became a nurse and worked graveyards at the newly opened Orem Community Hospital while Richard finished up his education and entered the business world. Tralaye was born on Su’s birthday in 1977. They soon settled in American Fork where they brought Mallory home in 1986. Su retired from being a hospital nurse to being a mom nurse to Mallory. A job she was born to do. 

The early loss of her parents was a hardship that she carried with her her whole life. Richard would regularly buy flowers for Su during these hard times which led to the purchase of Just Because Flowers & Gifts. The flower industry quickly became a family affair as Richard and Su built Just Because as a community staple in American Fork. 

In 2000 Su left the flower industry and got her dream job as a Flight Attendant for SkyWest Airlines. While the training was difficult and the hours were rigorous she loved getting to go to new places and meet new people. SkyWest was gracious to work with Su as she battled addiction and different health complications. The highlights were getting to use her flight benefits to take friends and family to new and exciting places, especially the trip that her and Richard went on to Paris, a life long dream of hers. 

Richard and Su were thrilled when they gained two sons. Randy (Tralaye) was the handy man every family needs and Lucas (Mallory) the tech wizard. Between the two of them, Richard and Su were well taken care of and knew their daughters would be too. Randy and Lucas have been instrumental in the ongoing tasks of caring for Su. 

Su was overjoyed when her first grandchild arrived. Cason and her shared a special bond throughout her life. She loved spoiling all of her grandkids whenever she could. Often, much to the chagrin of her daughters, spending too much money on them. Cason (Matthews), Jayde (Dunn), Jerzy (Matthews), Ryker (Miller), Conrad (Miller), Aiden (Miller) and Sheldon (Miller) will always be her brightest joys. 

Loss was something that Su struggled with whether it was a family member, friend or acquaintance. We find comfort in knowing that there are many people that she mourned comforting her in heaven. 

A simple interment will be held at American Fork Cemetery on Monday August 10th at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
