Carla J Wheadon

Carla Jean Wheadon, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 17, 2021 at age 88.

She was born March 21, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carl S. Abernethy and Mildred B. McDaniel. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, where she was on the ski team before transferring to Washington State University. She married Lawrence (Larry) J Wheadon in Las Vegas, Nevada, later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Together they have five children. They raised their family first in Sandy, Utah, then Brownsville, Texas before moving to Garden Grove, California where they lived until Larrys retirement. After his retirement they settled in Alpine, Utah. They were married for 46 years until Larrys death in 2004.

In addition to raising her five children, Carla had many talents and interests. She was an accomplished cook, baker and seamstress, sewing many holiday, prom, and bridesmaids dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. In her youth she was an avid skier and in later years participated in bowling leagues. Carla enjoyed her book club and Lunch Ladies groups and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Carla is survived by her children: Debra (Jeff) Bartow, West Jordan; Wallace (Lisa) Wheadon, Brea, California; Kenneth (Kathy) Wheadon, Salt Lake City; Laura (Alan) Ray, Huntington Beach, California; and Kelly (Darrin) Liddell, Holladay. Also, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and her sister, Jody Florence, Saint Augustine, Florida.

Funeral services for Carla will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the graveside at Alpine City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being conducted under the direction of Warenski Funeral Home, American Fork, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society orhttp://bulldogrescueofutah.org

The graveside services will be streamed for those wishing to attend virtually.
