Jerald D Kofford

With joy and sadness, and a firm belief in eternal life through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we announce the passing of our father, Jerald Dick Kofford (November 1, 1933 January 20, 2021). His battle with dementia is over.

Dad was a pilot. He joined the Air Force ROTC at Brigham Young University and upon graduation in 1958, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. He was later promoted to Captain and served two tours in Vietnam, flying B-52s. In 1967, he became a pilot for United Air Lines. He learned to needlepoint while on layovers around the world, creating many fabulous pieces of needle work.

He married Sharon Cahoon in the Salt Lake Temple in September 1957. They met at the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra where he was completing a two-year mission to the Eastern States Mission for the LDS Church. They met again at BYU where dad chased off all comers and the rest, as they say, is history. They proceeded to add six children to their family, Douglas (Kaye), Kathy, Chris (Jenessa) Michelle (Barry), Dan (Cheryl), and Shaun, and a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sharon passed away on May 4, 2003.

Dad also leaves behind his beautiful bride of 15 years, Una Lea Kofford, and her four children, Randy (Susanne), Shawn (Steve), Trudy (Joe), Lisa (Steve) plus a multitude of grand and great-grandchildren. They were married January 7, 2006.

We wish to thank the Highland Glen Assisted Living center for their loving care of dad in his final weeks of life.
